CWF 1 – 1 Bay City (A)
CWF 1 – 1 Folkestone
CWF 3 – 1 Medway Marauders
CWF 0 – 0 Kings Hill
CWF 2 – 0 Bay City (B) (penalties – match abandoned at 0 – 0, due to slippery surface.)
CWF v Bay City (A)
A robust affair with CWF taking the lead early in the game. Bay City scored the equalizer with the last kick of the match. 1 – 1
CWF v Folkestone
CWF took an early lead under somewhat bizarre circumstances. A miss-hit pass from striker Phillips saw the ball trickle harmlessly to the Folkestone keeper. Phillips turned to apologize to his team-mates and was astonished to see them jumping up and down with glee. Apparently, a wandering bee had collided with the ball, sending it on a chaotic trajectory which completely bamboozled goalie Roger (The Cat) Betts. A fierce battle ensued with neither side taking prisoners. The Folkestone side, inspired by the silky skills of their coach and event organizer, Steve Race, eventually securing a draw with the equalizer late on.
CWF v Medway Marauders
Another hard fought game. CWF going a couple of goals in front after 7 minutes. Medway fought back and scored a decent goal from the angle, but CWF eventually finished them off with a third with 2 minutes to go.
CWF v Kings Hill
As the score suggests, a tight game with few chances. 0 – 0 probably a fair result.
CWF v Bay City (B)
0 – 0 when the rain came down turning the surface into an ice rink. The game had to be abandonded as Torvill and Dean had phoned the Leisure Centre quoting copyright legislation. In a 2 penalty shoot out CWF slotted the first one into the bottom left. Bay City’s spot kick was saved by CWF stand-in keeper Lee (The Terminator) Ackroyd. Jonathan Butcher stepped up to bury his penalty bottom right, before being buried in a avalanche of jubilant team-mates.
