Canterbury won the toss, and decided to give Margate a 3 goal start. Before the ref could securely zip up his coin, Margate had put 3 goals in the net. Canterbury couldn’t believe what they were witnessing, so decided to give Margate another goal 2 minutes later just to confirm what was happening.
Canterbury then managed to kick the ball but it went straight back to a Margate player who then made it 5 -0 at the break.
The second was was a different game with Canterbury attacking a Margate side that thought they’d done enough to win the game. Even though they were right, Canterbury scored a neat goal with Lance Fishlock rolling the ball to Roger Betts who blasted the ball into Margate’s net. The net was repaired and Jonathan Butcher then slotted another. It looked like a come back might be possible. It wasn’t. Margate finished off the game with a well taken goal.
Unlike when Canterbury visited Margate 2 weeks ago, when they should have won, all in all, this was a fair result with the Canterbury lads only sulking until we all reached the pub and shared a few beers and some food.
Well done Margate
