Canterbury Walking Football Club

“A great way for the over 50’s to stay fit in the game they love”

Age shouldn’t stop you playing football. In fact research says there’s no reason why you shouldn’t play when you’re in your fifties or sixties. The game is not played as you might see it in the premier league; it is very adaptable, can be played at any level of skill and is open to all abilities.

As you can see by how fit we look, this was taken before a match.

We are a a mixed bunch of over 50’s walking football enthusiasts relishing in the chance to play the game we all thought had gone from our lives. We have one aim and that is to enjoy ourselves and be part of a team once again, while trying to revive those subtle skills that seem to be somewhere in the back of our minds.

Walking Football, a slow-paced version of the beautiful game aimed at the over 50s, has arrived in Kent with venues popping up all over the Country.
Walking Football is designed to help people keep an active lifestyle despite their age, as well as getting those back playing football who had to stop due to injuries.
As the name suggests, Walking Football is non-contact and anyone that sprints, runs or jogs while the ball is in play will be penalised with a free-kick awarded to the other team. One foot must be in contact with the ground at all times.
The game is played on a pitch 20/40 yards in length and 15/30 yards in width, with the game restarted via a kick, roll or throw-in.
